Our annual education program is back for its fifth year, and it's bigger than ever! This year, we're excited to announce that in addition to production and narration topics, we're bringing together actors, authors, producers, and publishers for our largest event yet. ACX University is expanding to eight classes, adding publishing and marketing lessons, and introducing you to a new class of industry experts. Her work in audiobook narration has earned her multiple AudioFile Earphones Awards, Voice Arts Award and Audie Award nominations, and Audible Romance Audiobook of 2016 along with co-narrator Shane East. She and her family live in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Carin Gilfry is a voice actor, opera singer, and creator and host of the children's web-series Rosie's Place. She has narrated and produced nearly 100 audiobooks, and appeared in numerous national TV commercials, video games, and product videos. She also owns and operates Gilfry Studios, her "homemade studio with all the trimmings," where she teaches classes, and records voice over projects and demos for actors in New York City.

James FouheyJames is an actor and narrator living in New York City. He received classical training at Boston University and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. He has recorded more than 100 audiobooks across a variety of genres and is currently performing Off-Broadway.


Piers PlattPiers Platt is the New York Times bestselling author of Combat and Other Shenanigans, a memoir of his year-long deployment to Iraq. When he's not writing or spending time with his wife and daughters, Piers works as a strategy consultant in New York City.

The Life of an Audiobook Publisher



Kym Grosso Kym Grosso is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the erotic paranormal series, The Immortals of New Orleans, and the contemporary erotic suspense series, Club Altura. In 2012, Kym published her first novel and today, is a full time indie romance author. In addition to romance novels, Kym has published several articles about autism, and is passionate about autism advocacy. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from West Chester University and a MBA from Widener University.

Robin WhittenRobin Whitten is the founder and editor of AudioFile-25 years young and ready for the next challenges ahead! Started in 1992, AudioFile reviews and recommends audiobooks as a multi-platform resource, publishing in print, e-newsletters, the AudioFileMagazine.com web site, and seasonal programs like AudiobookSYNC for teen audiences. Kat Lambrix Kat Lambrix is an award-winning audiobook producer with Audible, Inc. For almost a decade, she has worked with narrators to direct and produce outstanding performances that delight the ears of Audible listeners. She works closely with recording talent and authors to create unique and fulfilling listening experiences. Kat is also versed in commercial and industrial production, broadcast presentation, educational content development and performance, studio environment design, and has taught workshops at Columbia, Juilliard and NYU.


Sarah Mollo-Christensen After working in documentary production, book publishing, and law, Sarah Mollo-Christensen threw caution (and financial responsibility) to the wind, and apprenticed herself to a dog trainer while attending the Atlantic Acting School's Conservatory. She has acted in New York and at regional theaters, including The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., spending a year in residence as an acting fellow. When she's not in a theater or an audio booth, she can be found resolving the behavior issues of New York City's dogs as a dog trainer.

David Afonso David Afonso is an audio engineer who brings over 5 years of audio experience to ACX University. Since graduating from the Institute of Audio Research in New York City, he has worked in many different fields of audio production including music, broadcast and the performing arts. Audio is his passion and as part of the ACX QA team, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and offering solutions to help educate ACX producers in achieving high quality recordings that meet industry standards.


Brendan SolorzBrendan Solorz has spent over four years with the ACX QA team and has helped to identify and resolve production issues on thousands of ACX titles. Prior to his work with ACX, Brendan worked in radio production, creating and engineering content for Red Bull Music Academy, East Village Radio and WBAI New York. When not in the office, Brendan loves to travel, most often with an audiobook playing in his earbuds.

Steven Jay CohenSteven Jay Cohen has been telling stories his whole life. Professionally, since 1991. In addition to the audiobooks he has worked on through ACX, Steven has recorded for Audible Studios, Tantor Audio, Harper Collins, and soon Penguin Random House.


Neil HellegersNeil Hellegers is an actor and narrator who lives in Brooklyn, NY. With a background in performing and teaching Shakespeare nationally and internationally, he has also appeared a various commercials, TV programs, and films. As a narrator, he has produced independantly for ACX, as well as read for Audible Studios, Tantor Audio, Blackstone Audio, HarperAudio, and, shortly, Penguin Random House. He is a proud member of Actor's Equity and SAG AFTRA.
