Taking Your Career to the Next Level

ACX is a great stepping stone for any audiobook career, but how can you get noticed by casting directors in other networks? Let us introduce you to the decision makers at top studios and hear how they discover great voices. Producers from Audible Studios join us for a panel discussion on what they're looking for from new talent, how to nail the audition, and how to avoid a production faux pas.

New and experienced narrators alike will benefit from this roundtable featuring some of the most influential casting directors in the audiobook industry. Attendees will learn how these producers most frequently identify new talent, what they expect from an audition, and their top do's and don'ts for working in a professional studio. Topics in this session include: what to include on your demo, submitting an audition and following up, selecting the right audition material for your voice, understanding when you're ready to transition to more traditional recording spaces.

Your Audiobook Is Your Business: How to Make Great Decisions Success is defined differently for many ACX narrators, but for those who are looking to make audiobook performance their full-time career, it can be challenging to determine which path to follow. In this session, we'll dissect the attributes of the most successful narrators, including setting realistic expectations and goals, succeeding at the audition stage, selecting the right audiobook projects to build your profile, and establishing your voice as a business through online channels. Achieving success in each of these areas is challenging, but by facing each of these milestones thoughtfully, all producers can achieve success on the ACX platform.

Now Hear This: A Closer Look at Performing Top Genres Audiobook narration is the ultimate one-man show, and you're the star! But how can you develop the range to perform so many characters? Join ACX as we dive deep into performing in the best-selling fiction and non-fiction genres with help from some best-selling voices. Studio Gear ReviewGreat audiobooks begin with proper recording tools and techniques, without which most common engineering issues can't be fixed. With such a wide range of products and software available, producers need guidance on which key pieces they should invest in to get the best recording. Further, creating a quiet recording space in your home is not out of reach with a few smart choices in recording space treatments. Viewers will be surprised at the cost of equipment used by our award-winning Audible Studios team and can get answers to their questions about the philosophy behind equipment choices and setup.

Hey, I Know You!: Creating and Maintaining Your Actor BrandThe most successful narrators are known by voice, and many have fan followings on Audible.com. This level of recognition is achievable within the audiobook community for narrators who are willing to put in the time to develop a positive, professional brand. In this session, we'll discuss how to select the right venue for anchoring your brand: while some narrators succeed on a personal website, others excel on a social media platform. Once you've selected the venue on which to build your brand, we'll discuss different ways to brand every day, from auditioning to networking to promoting completed projects.

Behind the Glass: A Day in the Life of an ACX Pro Audiobook narration is an untraditional job, especially when it's your full-time career. You're responsible for finding and booking jobs, keeping your vocal profile up to date, performing, recording, and keeping up with the latest training. Spend a day with ACX Narrator Caitlin Kelly to see how to balance the many responsibilities that come with making audiobook narration into a successful career. You'll learn how to choose projects that match your voice and where to discover new clients. Then, we'll take you quickly through the preparation, performance, and recording process in her home studio. Finally, and ask your questions about creating a career in narration and production.
