Improbability Principle

Category : Nonfiction
Language : English
Gender : Male
Accent : British-General Scottish
Vocal Style : Informed
Performance Notes
A great story about coincidences from this title I recorded for Macmillan publishers from this very popular non-fiction book about improbable events. The story - about Anthony Hopkins finding a book on the London Tube - is the one the author used to publicize the book in his many press interviews. This book is currently misattributed on both the Macmillan site and the Audible site where it is available. My lawyer is working on that one! It's me!

A piece of narration from an Amazon Single I recorded for Audible.com that I tried to give a hint of Richard Burton to. Authentic Cardiff accent also.

Life'sRatchetNarration

Performance Notes
Another selection of narrative from this Audible title. Again, I adopted a very slight German overtone to reflect the author's nationality.

Life'sRatchet

Category : Nonfiction
Language : English
Gender : Male
Accent : British-General British
Vocal Style : Professorial
Performance Notes
I adopted a very slight German overtone for this non-fiction title written by a German author. This is him pontificating at the end of the book. This title was produced for Audible.com.

Breakfast at the Balliols

Category : Classics
Language : English
Gender : Male
Accent : British-General British
Vocal Style : Versatile
Performance Notes
An excerpt from the Audible title The Balliols showing several voices as well as narration: young girl, young boy, adult female, adult male.

My stage training and experience produces a very resonant voice, with a baritone range most comfortable. However, my acting training means that if you want breathy and light, I can do that as well. In fact, I can do anything. My narration is typically warm, emotional and deep, while character voices are developed from a character study, textual clues and other evidence. This is a selection of the accents I can do proficiently: British, obviously, English, Scottish, Welsh, North Welsh, Northern Irish, Irish. About 30 or so regional British accents in addition, from cockney to Cornish to Yorkshire, Geordie, etc. French, German, Spanish, Italian, Mexican, Greek, Eastern European, Russian, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, Yiddish, Glaswegian, Edinburgh, Inner Hebrides, Manchester, Liverpool (three types).
Most recently was one of the readers on 12 Major World Religions as well as a number of leads on a top secret set of horror mysteries that haven't been released yet, as well as appearing in the Audible production The X-Files. I was also one of the leads in the Audie award-winning The Starling Project by Jeffery Deaver and the lead in the 2016 Ogle award winner The Masque of the Red Death. A complete list of the titles I have recorded for Audible and other audiobook producers can be found here: https://www.audible.com/search?ref=a_search_c1_sort_1&pf_rd_p=073d8370-97e5-4b7b-be04-aa06cf22d7dd&pf_rd_r=BEB05ZVB0TKV707W833K&searchNarrator=Paul+Hodgson&submitted=1&sort=pubdate-desc-rank and includes fiction and non-fiction. In between times I was the lead in the Final Rune Productions and Mark Time Ogle Award and HEAR now radio drama A Journey with Strange Bedfellows. The first book I recorded was 22 hours of Alec Waugh's The Balliols for Audible.com. I have also done a large amount of cartoon and videogame voiceover work for Slimgoodbody productions including a wide variety of voices and characters for cartoons commissioned by PBS, ranging from Rene Descartes to Albert Einstein, and the voice of the computer. Prior to that I worked for the BBC in London on a number of audio projects from radio drama to poetry reading.
For Masque of the Red Death (Lead, the Duke) 2016 Gold Ogle Award for Best Horror or Fantasy. For A Journey with Strange Bedfellows (Lead) a Mark Time Ogle Award for excellence in audio storytelling and featured as an "Official Listening Selection" at the HEAR Now: The Audio Fiction and Audio Arts Festival. For The Starling Project (Co-Lead) Audie Award for Original Work.
