Bullfinch's Mythology, Sappho

Category : Nonfiction
Language : English
Gender : Female
Accent : American-General American
Vocal Style : Professorial
Performance Notes
Bullfinch's Mythology is a reference book detailing mythological sources from around the world. Written in the 1800s, it is still a leading academic reference tool today. I am reading an entry that contains biographical and mythological information on the poet, Sappho, as well as an excerpt of a poem written by Byron.

The Marble Faun, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Chapter 34

Category : Classics
Language : English
Gender : Female
Accent : American-General American
Vocal Style : Articulate
Performance Notes
The Marble Faun is written in a bit of an archaic style, with many winding sentences and awkward speech patterns for modern listeners. I attempt to give each character a voice, while maintaining smooth narration. I add a little emphasis where needed to help maintain flow and keep the sentence structure comprehensible to the listening audience.

The Voyage Out by Virginia Woolf, Chapter 1

Category : Fiction
Language : English
Gender : Female
Accent : American-General American
Vocal Style : Articulate
Performance Notes
The opening to The Voyage Out sets the somewhat dispirited tone of the novel which focuses on the characters' inability to fully understand and relate to each other. I try to bring life to the voices of the novel without being overly emotive so that narration is smooth.

I have a professional studio set up in a small off-Broadway theater that I work in. My voice lies in the mezzo-soprano range. I can work quickly and diligently you get your title narrated, and I have a keen attention for detail. I, myself, am a passionate reader in my downtime, so narrating books is a natural extension of my own hobbies. I speak French fluently, and I am not intimidated by difficult or technical wording. I am incredibly proactive, and I will ensure to pronounce every word correctly. I was educated at Columbia University with a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. I also have a law degree (JD) from the University of Miami. I would love to work with you to get your title narrated.
Years ago, I volunteered to narrate books for persons who are visually impaired. I stopped doing this when I moved from Texas to go to school here in NYC. I don't have any specific credits to refer you to, unfortunately, since the group of volunteers worked on a rotating basis, and books would have multiple narrators. I have worked in theater for the past seven years, including audio work. I worked at the Davenport Theatre and the Soho Playhouse in NYC. I have worked with such shows as Afterglow, Endangered, and Popcorn Falls.
