Category : Comedy
Language : English
Gender : Female
Accent : American-Urban
Vocal Style : Comedic/great comic timing
Performance Notes
This book is a memoir about a white girl who was raised in an all-black neighborhood. Her father grew up here and thinks of himself AS a black man and proceeds to appropriate their culture and force it on his daughters. Mishna Wolff, the author, was anything but comfortable with this and always felt like an outsider. In this excerpt, she is having dinner with her father's new girlfriend and gets caught snooping around in her bedroom.

"Two words: Minnie Goode. The woman is a genius with command of a myriad of voices; able to switch between them all on a dime. Its remarkable how a young white woman can sound like an old black man better than I can (and I'm a middle aged black man)! There are a lot of characters but I had no trouble keeping track of who's who. She should have read the rest of the series because she is a MUCH better reader than Tim Gerard Reynolds. Very impressive.Of course, the story is amazing too." Audible Customer Clark Battle "Minnie was EXTREMELY good with the character's voices! As well as the radio static! She was able to suck me right into the story! (This IS a true work of art! I cannot tell you how many good stories I have listened to via audiobooks in which the reader is just not at par with the amazing material they are reciting! This is NOT the case with Minnie Goode! She did a tremendous job! So much so, I started searching for other books that she has read! Not due to the fact the book stories are well written or not, just that I feel she could make an "okay" book a GOOD book to listen to." -Audible Customer Jeremy from Las Vegas "I initially bought the ebook, but in it's first quarter, I bought the audiobook too, and from now on, never opened the kindle book again. Minnie Goode's interpretation is perfect, and sometimes you forget that it's only one person reading." - Audible Customer Giovanni from Brazil
