Decades as a professional actor (SAG-AFTRA) and voiceover talent, with a deep, rich voice, and extreme versatility with characters and dialects. I believe in taking the time to produce an audiobook where the audio is clean-sounding (i.e., without distracting mouth noises or the like), which is just as pleasant to listen to with headphones on as it is in the car, and which adheres as closely to the words on the page as possible. You will come across narrators here who churn out audiobooks at a much faster pace. But if you compare their final product with mine, you will immediately notice the difference. Most of them are interested in quantity, while I am interested in quality. I usually allow 2 months turnaround for a 10-hour fiction audiobook, but will often get it done before deadline. Bottom line is, I will treat your writing as if it were my own, because my reputation is at stake as well, and I want to create the best product possible. The other thing I take ultimate care with is the performance - this includes spending time crafting the sound and vocal traits of each major character, and getting a firm understanding for the overall "feel" of the book. I bring all my acting training to bear when narrating a book. If quality is as important to you as it is to me, I hope you'll consider that when selecting your narrator. :-) A note about rates: I usually only work for a "per finished hour" rate, but I will occasionally consider royalty share either for 1) very short titles, 2) for authors and/or titles with a very strong sales history, or 3) if there is also a stipend attached. Thank you for stopping by! :-)

Critical Raves for HARMLESS: "What I liked most about Harmless was the performance of the narrator, DJ Holte. It was as if I had Steve following me around telling me his story and not minding when I laughed at him. That's an experience I would never get from the print version. From the first word of the audio sample, I knew this was a voice I would enjoy. I'm adding DJ Holte to my list of favorite narrators and hope to hear more of his work." ~ Judy Purdee at 'Love2Listen' review blog "DJ Holte really made Steve come alive, foibles and all." ~ Carol at 'Carol's Notebook' review blog "DJ Holte does a great job conveying Steve's irritating traits of whininess, arrogance, and ridiculousness. The delivery and pace work well with the strange presentation of the mystery by Steve." ~ Martha at 'Martha's Bookshelf' review blog More Critical Raves, This Time For GOING SHOGUN: "DJ Holte... is gifted. The voices he created made vivid images of the characters in my mind." ~DWD's Reviews "I have the Kindle version... but reading Going Shogun and hearing DJ Holte's performance is like the difference between watching a black and white movie on a 19" TV and then watching it at the theater in full color with surround sound. His performance is perfect with a unique voice for each character. He is able to capture the emotion of the moment, whether the character's experiencing danger, excitement or romance. I give Going Shogun 5 stars and highly recommend it with a warning: Every audiobook you listen to afterward will seem mighty dull." ~ Judy Purdee at 'Love2Listen' review blog "The narration is by DJ Holte who does an outstanding job. All the characters are clearly differentiated. They sound like what you would expect. His range is wide and he brings a lighthearted dystopia to life without a flaw." ~AudioBook Reviewer
