Everyone can "read in a multitude of voices," but I do have strong ability for impersonation, animated, or unusual voices. Hooowever...my bread and butter is my BARITONE. The late, great Don Lafontaine was my hero. And as luck would have it, his is the voice I get hired most to do for my normal voice over work. Head on over to Fiverr.com/RyanLeeVoice for any shorter voice needs you may have. But we're here for narration. Which is where I must apologize and ask you to permit my ego to bust out momentarily. It was March of this year, and I took a shot and posted one audition on ACX just for the shiggles of it on a random Thursday night. By the end of the weekend I had been hired to narrate 4 books. Here it is six months later and I just completed my 11th. Inked for 7 more, including J. Kenner's "Broken With You" Stark Series installment, and 3 books for Dale Meyer's Ethan series. It isn't just romance I specialize in. I've been tasked with horror, dark comedy, biography, supernatural and self-help. I prefer a more relaxed style for any narrative, as if I'm telling a story to a captivated campfire crowd. You have to stop, inflect, be casual, be assertive, for maximum effect. Telling stories in a stilted, mechanical manner...I am NOT a fan. I want the listener to be as grabbed by the actions as I am. Though working for big pubs is great, I truly enjoy ACX more because you have DIRECT contact with the author. It's so effective -- with each completed chapter -- to have them give it an immediate listen and begin the feedback process. So let's make something great together, and get your stories between some ears!
BROKEN WITH YOU - Part of the Stark Security Series, this tale from New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner. Imagine not being able to tell your husband that he's your husband! And trying to bottle the passion that is obviously brimming between you. A very compelling amnesia/action/unspoken romance ride of loss of identity and rediscovery of passion. ETHAN SERIES - USA Today superstar Dale Meyer's K9 Files series, books 2, 3 and 4. These involve the broken and drifting ex-military man Ethan Ebberly who has the special gift of being able to communicate with animals. At the same time dealing with love with one of the dog handlers he encounters. IN TENTS by Andy Kaiser - A supernatural tale of horror, revenge and redemption. Intriguingly mapped and darkly explored by Andy Kaiser, this had a lot of fun in capturing those desolate, mysterious elements that come with a traveling circus and its malevolent characters. INSANE TAXI DRIVER CONFESSIONS by Aaron Kline - Pretty self-explan. Beautifully uplifting tales of drunk vegans, frozen puke on the side of a cab, and *bartenders* who are the ones spiking drinks! Among other things. LIMBS by Tim Meyer - My, my. How to explain this one. Well, one person's revulsion is another man's fantasy, as electronics store stiff Ray Bridges trolls victim support groups for easy bedroom targets. But not just for the basic peel and squeal...it was because he found them beautiful. WRITE HORROR - GOOD ENOUGH TO WAKE THE DEAD - A brilliant how-to guide for those wanting to delve into the horror writing vein. Christina Escamilla leaves no stone unturned as she details every conceivable aspect it takes to turn your horror works into masterpieces. DARK PSYCHOLOGY - The lengths people go to in manipulating, controlling and brainwashing those around them. From complete strangers to those you trust the most...your family! This non-fiction exploration of mind control was pretty scary stuff. THE MAFIA SYNDICATE - Just because you're the heir apparent to one of the biggest crime families in America, doesn't necessarily mean you want it. A great reverse-Sopranos style journey of not only wanting out, but staying out....and alive. Not to mention the dozens of dark erotica titles I'm doing under a name in hiding. Safe words abound!
Oh, man, where to begin. Nowhere. Because I'm not going to fabricate a bunch of awards I haven't won. Yet.
