As a singer and recording artist, I'm familiar and comfortable with the recording environment. Outside of the studio, I perform and tour with the Seattle based bands Uncle Bonsai, and The Go Janes, and produce the Wintergrass festival in Bellevue. I lived in South Africa for a year and have traveled extensively through Europe and the Middle East. Four kids and as many grandkids have given me years of real-life training in reading out loud, however, I realize there is a big difference between a nice snuggly read and a professionally produced product. I use my own studio for narration work, using a Neumann mic and Protools setup. I learned the trade during my time with Bee Audio - a fantastic and exacting company to work with. Today, I work with a professional in-house editor, giving your project an extra set of ears to produce high quality, clean audio. I'm especially fond of books with lots of characters, am not afraid of using accents and always deliver products in less than the allotted time frame. I do hold myself to fairly high sound production standards, but am always cognizant of the fact that I'm reading for one person at a time. I've recorded biographies, humorous novels, romance novels, science fiction, and short story collections. I'm a good researcher and listener, comfortable with foreign languages, and have recorded books with French, German and Spanish phrases, although I am not fluent in any of those languages. I am accustomed to using online tools like forvo.com and merriamwebster.com to check for pronunciation accuracy. I also work with an audio engineer to ensure that the finished product is error-free and clean.
