The greatest things my dad ever brought home was a reel-to-reel tape recorder when I was seven. That Wollensak and I spent a LOT of time together. Inevitably, I enrolled in the BFA program at East Carolina University. When I came to Atlanta to apprentice at the Alliance Theatre, I just stayed. To avoid the actress/waitress cliché, I worked for a doctor, a private eye, and in film crews. I've written two and a half novels and became a licensed massage therapist. That's a lot of avoidance. Now, when I'm not recording, I foster puppies, grow vegetables, read, and nap. Audiofile Magazine has called my work “superb”, “versatile”, “expressive”, “warm”, and “spirited”. If that's not nice, what is?

© AudioFile Magazine Reviews Non-Fiction - Memoir TRIALS OF THE EARTH by Mary Mann Hamilton Narrator Barbara-Benjamin Creel gives a spirited narration of this memoir of a pioneer in the Mississippi Delta at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth. Creel has a versatile, expressive voice that gives a credible Southern accent to Hamilton and an aristocratic air to Hamilton's husband.  M.T.F. © AudioFile 2016, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2016] Fiction - Screwball Mystery IVY APPLETON: PROP WIDOW by B.B. Cherry  Barbara Benjamin-Creel's performance is superb, perfectly capturing Ivy's roller-coaster emotions. The narrators excel in their ability to make the reader smile with each new plot twist, while somehow retaining a realism that is never overshadowed by the story's comedy.  D.J.S. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB / MAR 03] Fiction – Ghost Stories GHOSTS OF THE CAROLINAS by Nancy Roberts Narrator Barbara Creel-Benjamin's warm, believable delivery is perfect for these stories…  S.G.B. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2017] Author Comments Fiction - Fantasy CHRISTIANA MILLER (Somebody Tell Aunt Tille We're In Trouble) - Barbara is fabulous to work with. She keeps an open line of communication with her authors, which is so important. She never lets her ego get in front of the work. She works hard to make the audiobook the best it can be. She takes direction well, she meets her deadlines, she's an absolute joy to work with. Fiction - Mystery CAROLE B. SHMURAK (Susan Lombardi Series) Over the course of four audiobooks, Barbara has been a delight to work with. She has been very meticulous about getting everything just right. For each audiobook, we had a discussion of the traits of the main characters and how they might sound, and then Barbara gave each one his or her own unique voice. She handled any problems with humor and grace. I have several author-friends who've had books produced as audiobooks, and none of them had as collaborative an experience as I did with Barbara. Audible Listener Comments Fiction – Mystery DEADMISTRESS by Carole B. Shmurak The narration by Barbara Benjamin-Creel was charming and enchanting among a wide variety of characters. DK – Audible Listener Fiction - SciFi/Fantasy MYSTERIOUS HAPPENINGS AND CONUNDRUMS, INC. by Austin Miller I chortled my way through this little gem, and thoroughly enjoyed the exquisite narration, as well. The narrator really does use her voice and skills to enhance this charming story, and she does, to perfection. I give both book and narrator 5 out of 5 stars, and dare you to read this and NOT crack a smile. (you'll laugh out loud, I think, actually.)  Shoshana Hathaway – Audible Listener
