The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

Category : Science Fiction & Fantasy
Language : English
Gender : Female
Accent : American-General American
Vocal Style : Quirky
Performance Notes
The main character and her brother have recently moved to a new state. Her brother serves somewhat as comedic relief for the story line and this is the first moment in the book where the main character seems almost like a normal teenager, fretting over minor things.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Language : English
Gender : Female

Vocal Style : Warm
Performance Notes
Tris, the main character, was just almost tossed into a chasm, which would have killed her. Four, her instructor, stopped the people attacking her before they could throw her in. The scene takes place in his living area. Tris is a strong character and even though she is shaken up by the incident, she doesn't want to lose that image of strength.

I am Grey by Jane Washington

Category : Romance
Language : English
Gender : Female
Accent : American-General American
Vocal Style : Brooding
Performance Notes
This sample is of an excerpt from chapter 2 of Jane Washington's novel I Am Grey. The main character/narrator has suffered a tragedy that has warped her view on most of the world, causing her to become her own worst enemy. She is brooding most of the time, and also in a numb sort of state. This chapter is based around an early encounter with her councilor who, along with a few choice other characters in the book, are able to halt her self-destructive tendencies.

I enjoy listening to, reading, and writing stories, and I am looking to begin narrating stories as well.
