I narrate multiple genres from romance to sci-fi and non-fiction, and am on schedule to reach 100 books this year (my fifth year narrating). Neutral American accent or neutral Canadian accent. My priority is for the author to be happy with my performance and how I represent their intentions. It is a very special thing to be entrusted with becoming the voice in a listener’s head. I have a consistent track record of professional production; I am ambitious, meticulous, and hard-working, always working to improve and be a better narrator, and I embrace challenge. I like a communicative relationship with authors, and I can be flexible. If you're new to having your books made into audiobooks, I'm happy to help you understand the process better. I'm here for the love of books: I come to audiobook narration through a profound affliction of bibliophilia, and a long habit of reading aloud. For someone who can't get enough reading, audiobook narrating is a dream come true! I have a background in writing and editing and can help you make your book better by finding the last few typos. I love language study and word etymology, with a special soft spot for Icelandic. Outside of the booth I am a beekeeper and friend to chickens, and have a small farm-ette and woodlot. I have a lot of experiences and unusual odd jobs in my background, ranging from being a firefighter and competitive snowboarder to bartender and tax return accountant. I'm a dual citizen US/Canada. I grew up homeschooled, spent 17 years working as a carpenter, and have lived in most of the provinces and been to most of the states. I like to think all of this gives me perspective, sensitivity, and emotional range. Along with all the books I've read, it has definitely enriched my vocabulary:)

Feedback from Authors: “I have worked with Aven twice now, and am jealous of anybody else who gets to do so in the future. Not only does she approach her productions with care, preparation, and sensitivity. Not only does her voice convey warmth, intelligence, and precision. Aven doesn’t just ‘read’ a book—she inhabits and improves it. What a pleasure to work with someone with passion for the written word and its potential.” - Nicholas Nicastro Your voice is just so perfect for the latter parts of the book in particular […]. One of the reasons I picked you is that there’s a quality of sadness - sadness, but precisely described, and therefore not sentimental - you are capable of projecting that so fits my intentions. You've been wonderful to work with and I feel so lucky and relieved to have had you narrate, Aven, especially as you have had enthusiasm for the project. After working with [other narrators], I appreciate your conscientiousness and preparation even more. AMAZING JOB, Aven, from start to finish! Words fail to convey my awe and gratitude. You did a fantastic job on this! Nice work making all the distinctive voices for all those females roles and making the guys sounding enough like guys-not an easy thing. I absolutely adore your voice (you sound the way I imagine M------ in my mind) My wife and I do this together and we loved your voice, you make the perfect L-----!   Thank you for your wonderful narration! Your voice characterization is spot on. A perfect job!  Your voice is a gift that will carry you far. Our collaboration made my memoir so much better! Not only due to your voice. Your suggestions elevated the work immeasurably too. Thanks for your keen eye on the manuscript. Aven Shore is a fast, responsive narrator who really captured the essence of my story. I'd work with her again anytime! Must mention again how pleased I am with your narration. You have the voice of an angel! - Kami Corban L---'s accent is just right. You've done a fine job, Aven. Your voice makes the story a compelling experience.
