I am 24 years old and I've had a passion for narrating books, through my school career I always volunteered to read to the class. I put my own spin on the characters voices as I read, and it made those listening and following along truly enjoy a reading experience. Reading is enjoyable for some, and not as enjoyable for others. However, with the right vocal context what could be considered a dull read could be quite entertaining.
When I was first learning to read it was before I was even enrolled in school, I started with audio recordings that were part of the 'Hooked on Phonics' program my mother bought for me. In all honesty it really did help me excel in my reading abilities to the point where I could read at grade levels above me for most of my schooling career.
My passion with English and History came to fruition throughout my schooling career, I really enjoyed reading to people and I had a flair for character interpretation. When I started High School I decided for one of my electives I would enroll into acting, my sister was the Thespian president her Senior year right before I came to my graduating school. Naturally the acting teacher and the chorus teacher sort of fought over me because I was a male who was interested in the programs. I excelled in most of the exercises, but unfortunately I fell flat due to stage fright. Naturally this is an acquired skill one must learn through time, disciplined practice, and overall learning alternative methods to curving this behavior. So I was offered different character roles in plays and musicals, however I decided to not take up these offers.
I have these talents and so far I've felt I haven't entirely utilized them as effectively as I'd have hoped. So an opportunity recording an audio book would be a surreal experience for me, and I would be able to truly show off these talents to a wider audience so they can experience the joy my classmates felt.
