2018 ABR Listener's Award Winner - Young Adult Category for "Digital Horizon" by Sherry Ficklin. AudioFile Magazine Review: November 15, 2016: Tails of Jaxx at the Metropolitan Opera by Joanna Lee Doster Narrator Andrea Emmes has the perfect voice for this delightful pooch, who gets separated from his owner when a blizzard hits New York City. Jaxx, a Maltese, is rescued by Clarence, a Metropolitan Opera security guard, and Francesca, the wardrobe mistress. Their accents--his, New York and hers, French-- add to the story's atmosphere as do picturesque descriptions of the city and its people. Jaxx is an adorable storyteller who recounts behind-the-scenes details of the singers' spirited rehearsals. When Jaxx meets Caramello, the opera's resident cat, also wonderfully rendered, he helps solve the mystery of who is stealing from the opera. Listeners will enjoy hearing Jaxx triumphantly take the stage as a stand-in and finally being reunited with his owner. The character of Jaxx is based on the author's dog, a real-life animal performer with the Metropolitan Opera. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2016, Portland, Maine [Published: NOVEMBER 2016] AudioFile review, April 30, 2015 for Jane & Austen (Hopeless Romantics) by Stephanie Fowers Andrea Emmes's narration is perfect for this fluffy story aimed at Jane Austen fans. Emmes's high tones and fast pace capture the voice of Jane, an event coordinator who is launched into a comedy of romantic chaos and familial absurdities when she agrees to plan her friend's wedding. Emmes captures the haughtiness of the English in-laws-to-be and creates a wide range of caricatured voices for other characters, reflecting the lightheartedness of this romance. Emmes's enthusiasm keeps the listening dynamic, even as the author makes the somewhat laborious connections between the characters in Jane's life and those in Austen's novels. -- M.F. © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine Author Review, Glynn James of "At Last Goodbye" by Glynn James To say that I was impressed with Andrea's narration on At Last Goodbye would be a lie - I was utterly blown away. I'd been told by a number of readers that the story itself was very emotional, and that was what I had intended with the piece. Then I listened to Andrea's recording and, oh boy, was that an experience I wasn't expecting. If you are searching for a powerful performance that doesn't feel forced, you just found your narrator. Eargasms Audiobook Reviews, K. April Holgate for "Stolen" by Margaret Windsor I listened to the audiobook narrated by Andrea Emmes, who is well suited to the genre. Her voicing was wonderful and engaging. She keeps a steady pace that keeps you listening, even when things get a little dull in the first half. I loved the wealth of knowledge she was able to instill in Cayla by the end of the book. She was on a journey and grew from it, her voice reflects her gained strength.
