From The People's History of the United States

Category : History
Language : English
Gender : Male
Accent : American-General American
Vocal Style : Authoritative
Performance Notes
This book is non-fiction, but it has a definite point-of-view. It's possible to articulate that point-of-view through straight narration: If you let the author's point-of-view dictate the narrator's choices in tone and inflection, the narrator becomes a dynamic character. You can give the reader the experience of following a character through a story, even when there are no characters and no plot in sight.

From "The Library of Babel"

Category : Fiction
Language : English
Gender : Male
Accent : American-General American
Vocal Style : Sophisticated
Performance Notes
This story by Jorge Luis Borges is totally fascinating, and I love it. It has a whole world that seems to exist on its own entirely inside this story, but the deeper the story goes the broader the parameters of the world become until it seems our own world might be a part of it (another book on its shelves, so to speak). It's a first-person narration and I read this pretty straight -- the story is more about the library than the characters who inhabit it, so I don't try to give this guy more than a narrator's personality.

From The Darker Saints

Category : Romance
Language : English
Gender : Male
Accent : American-Southern
Vocal Style : Storyteller
Performance Notes
This is an excerpt from a horror novel by Brian Hodges. It has some light erotic overtones and this excerpt is pillow talk between an ex-southern belle and a creepy Washington DC hitman who are having an affair. Lots of southern accent narration.

I am a narrator, video and audio-producer based in Chicago, though I'm originally from the southern Appalachian Mountains. Midwestern accents, southern accents and all the accents in between are available if you need them. I am also a published fiction writer and as an author you have my sympathy and understanding. I want my voice to bring out all the voices in your work.
